Privacy Policy

The short version
We collect as little as we need to run the service. This site is funded by advertising, so our advertising partners may set cookies to show and measure ads — described in full below. We take reasonable care with the information the service handles, but no online service can be completely secure, so please read the section on sensitive documents below.
Your documents
You choose a file, the service processes it, and the finished document is returned to you. We do not ask for, and have no interest in, the contents of your documents. We do not sell them, share them, or use them to train anything.
How processing happens may change as we add features — some future tools may need to process a document on our servers rather than on your device. Where that is the case we will say so at the point of use and update this policy. In every case we keep only what is needed to deliver the feature you asked for, and for no longer than needed.
Please do not send us sensitive documents
The service is meant for ordinary, everyday documents, not confidential or sensitive material. Please do not use it for financial records, identity documents, health records, material under a duty of confidence, credentials, or other people’s personal data. Our Terms & Conditions cover this in more detail.
What is stored on your device
We keep two small values, and only for the current browser tab:
- Theme preference — whether you chose the light or dark appearance.
- Storage notice choice — that you have answered the notice at the bottom of the page, so it is not shown repeatedly.
Neither identifies you. Both are held in per-tab storage, so the browser discards them when you close the tab, and they expire after four hours in any case. You can also clear them through your browser settings or the “Storage preferences” link in the footer.
Your documents are never written to storage at all. They are held in memory while you work and released when you close the tab, switch tools, or leave the tab unattended for a few minutes — which matters if you are on a shared or public computer.
Cookies, analytics and similar technologies
We divide storage on your device into two kinds:
- Essential — needed for the site to work and to remember the choices described above. This is always active.
- Advertising — this site carries ads. Our advertising partners may set cookies or read device identifiers to choose which ads to show, limit how often you see the same one, and measure how ads perform.
- Analytics — measurement that helps us understand which features are used and what to improve.
You can accept or decline optional storage from the notice at the bottom of the page, and change your mind at any time using the “Storage preferences” link in the footer. Declining does not limit your use of the service. Where we use an analytics provider, it may process limited technical information such as pages viewed, approximate region and device or browser type; we do not use it to identify you personally or to build an advertising profile.
Advertising
This site is free to use and is funded by advertising. Ads are supplied by third-party advertising partners, which means those partners act as third parties on these pages and may receive your IP address, browser and device information, and details of the pages you view here. They may combine that with information they already hold about you.
Your documents are never part of this. They are processed on your device and are not sent to our advertising partners or to any advertiser.
Where the law requires your consent for advertising cookies — in the UK, EEA and Switzerland — that consent is collected by our advertising partner's own consent dialog rather than by the storage notice on this site. The storage notice covers only what we keep on your device.
Each advertising partner publishes its own description of how it uses information from sites that carry its ads, and most offer a way to control ad personalisation. Your browser and device settings also let you limit or reset advertising identifiers. If you would like to know which partners we currently work with, get in touch and we will tell you.
Hosting and logs
Loading the site involves an ordinary web request to our hosting provider, which may record standard server information such as an IP address, browser type and the time of the request. This is a normal part of serving any website and is used for security, troubleshooting and reliability.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information the service handles. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or to object to its processing. If you would like to exercise any of them, get in touch and we will help.
Children
The service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy as the service develops. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page.
